To best serve their clients, Academy Bank’s branch in the lobby of 1201 Walnut in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, shows efficiency within a small footprint without sacrificing personal spaces for bank associates to assist clients in private.
The design incorporates the Academy Bank brand green, accented with rift-sawn white oak, a distinct interior feature of Generator’s revitalized concept for the bank’s new branches. In constructing a branch inside the lobby of an existing office tower, we took extensive care to preserve the original finishes of the lobby. By using a kiosk-like design with raised access flooring and demountable walls, this branch could be removed in its entirety, leaving no trace that the branch was ever there after a repolish of the existing lobby floor.
The new branch in the 29-story office tower lobby features a walk-up counter that allows associates to welcome clients and provide fast service upon arrival. Behind the counter, a technology-driven conference room provides a private space for clients to discuss their financial goals, in addition to a small office next door that features an adjustable-height desk—delivering another privatized space for associates to assist clients.
Academy Bank, a subsidiary of Dickinson Financial Corporation, has been a decade-long client of Generator Studio—a relationship that led to Generator designing the financial institution’s three-floor headquarters in the same building as the 1201 Walnut bank branch.
