Netherlands Select KC Current Training Facility as Home Base

It’s official! The Kansas City Current Training Facility has been named the base camp for the Dutch National Team during FIFA World Cup 2026™.

We’re welcoming the Dutch to the KC Current Training Facility this Summer! The 17,000 SF facility, designed by Generator Studio under the vision of the KC Current ownership, will serve as the Netherlands home base and official team headquarters throughout their tournament run.

When completed in June 2022, not only was the complex the first of its kind in the National Women’s Soccer League, but the facility itself was the first professional training facility in North America built with cross-laminated timber.

Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman has this to say about the selection in the KC Current and Royal Dutch Football Association’s official press release:

“When selecting our base camp, we first looked at the most favorable climate conditions in the region where we will be playing,” said Koeman. “In addition, we considered other sporting requirements that are important for high‑quality training and accommodation: the quality of the pitches and facilities, location and travel distances. I visited the site myself, and for the region where we will play our group matches, Kansas City is the best option. Its location is also favorable. All of this contributes to being able to fully focus on football.”
