In only six months, Generator took the former New York Islanders’ locker room in Barclays Center and transformed it into the New York Liberty’s team suite in time for the 2021 season opener. The new space was designed to support and inspire the athletes at every turn. From the lockers to the showers, custom features and elements were integrated throughout the renovated area to embody the spirit of Brooklyn and meet the team’s request to create high contrast spaces that highlighted the team’s colors palette of black, white and Liberty Green.
The high-finish space included a locker room, team lounge, coaching and training offices and equipment storage. The wet area was designed specifically for female athletes with extra outlets and storage for styling tools and products, increased counter space and a custom sliding door to separate the media for additional player privacy during post-game interviews.
The luxury of the locker room matches that of the Brooklyn Nets, also housed in Barclays Center. Lockers with shoe displays, custom backlit nameplates and ventilated drawers are among the custom features. The New York Liberty logo shines brightly on the ceiling, continuing team branding throughout the area.
