Generator Studio was retained by a family headed by a high-tech entrepreneur and marketing executive who call home a 100+ year old historic mansion situated on a 120-acre farm near Kansas City. Their goals for the project included improving the arrival experience, creating an art gallery-style entry, and a seamless connection to a new pool and lounge. Ultimately, to create a retreat for family while providing flexibility to host charitable events.
The existing entry, not original to the farmhouse, was demolished for a new entry clad in glass to contrast the existing stonework. An Ipe pergola set on stone columns establishes a clear path from the entry to the poolhouse. Local stone masons secured and installed stone quarried in nearby Kansas that matches the existing stone and pattern.
The pool is nestled into massive stone retaining walls to take advantage of breathtaking westward hilltop views. Black granite mysteriously rises upward creating a sculptural four-sided infinity pool.
