Generator Studio has been selected as the Architect of Record and Design Lead for the Memorial Stadium redevelopment project. This selection marks yet another significant project with the Seattle Kraken organization. In collaboration with Seattle Public Schools, the City of Seattle and One Roof Stadium Partnership (a consortium of the Seattle Kraken, Climate Pledge Arena and One Roof Foundation), the new outdoor stadium will seamlessly integrate into Seattle Center campus as a community venue. This project stands out through its prioritization of student activities (athletics and performing arts) in its design and programming—creating a prominent professional-quality venue situated in the shadow of the iconic Space Needle, uniquely dedicated to supporting the city’s students.
The 8,000+ seat stadium will host student events and be a home for community activations. One of the project focus areas is elevating and celebrating Seattle Public School students and athletes while emphasizing inclusivity for all.
The project has significant historic importance, as part of the scope is to restore honor to the Memorial Wall, which was built to pay tribute to the Seattle Public High School students who sacrificed their lives in WWII.
The redevelopment will replace the existing grandstands with three new covered stands and a seating berm. A new major entry on the west side opens to Seattle’s famous International Fountain. The site will feature a new synthetic turf playing field and approximately 70,000 square feet of enclosed building space to accommodate different events and increase functionality.
The new Memorial Stadium has an anticipated completion date of early 2027.
