Interior Designer

 

The award-winning team at Generator Studio, a multidisciplinary design firm, seeks an Interior Designer.

 

The Role:

The Interior Designer works closely with the Director of Interior Design and broader team to develop the design of the interior spaces and the spaces in-between. This person collaborates with architects and other professional consultant team members to plan, design, coordinate, and present ideas relating to a variety of residential, workplace, hospitality, sports, and urban mixed-use design projects. This is a hands-on role that involves research and expression of design ideas through sketching, diagrams, digital modeling, and rendering in client-facing communication. Interior designers actively participate in design discourse and critiques with the interior design team, project team, and larger firm during weekly design reviews.

What a Week in the Life Might Look Like:

  • Generate design ideas through sketching, diagramming, and modeling to convey design thinking.
  • Develop design work using a broad range of graphic and technical computer software to express design solutions (Revit, Enscape, etc.).
  • Incorporate knowledge of current interior design trends into design work. Prepare design presentation packages for clients and stakeholders.
  • Select and present FF&E, lighting, material palettes and art concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • Work with product representatives, furniture dealers, art consultants and procurement agents to meet overall project goals.
  • Collaborate across teams, promoting design thinking from the inside-out and the outside-in.
  • Coordinate with the larger project team including interface with owners, contractors and consultants.
  • Perform interior design tasks during all phases of the design process, across a variety of project scopes and scales.
  • Coordinate work with team members.
  • Present design work to Principals and clients.

 

This Role is For You if You:

  • Have 3+ years of experience in professional Interior Design working on similar project types: mixed-use, multi-family, workplace and/or hospitality. Must have experience with all phases of the design process, including FF&E.
  • Are NCIDQ certified or working toward certification.
  • Dominate graphic design and technical software. You are fluent in Revit, Enscape and Adobe Suite (including InDesign).
  • Make magic expressing design ideas, whether through your design narrative or three-dimensionally. Must have ability to communicate design ideas quickly and have strong graphic presentation skills.
  • Think critically & solve problems. Must be a quick learner and critical thinker with ability to solve design problems in creative ways. You understand the relationship between design and constructability.
  • Eat, sleep and drink design. You love design, the iterative design process and have the ability to conceive and develop multiple design concepts. You have a steadfast desire to engage with the interior design industry, keep up with technical innovations and grow professionally.
  • Multitask. You work on multiple projects in various stages of development and effectively balance your workload with a high degree of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Have a flexible working style, at times working independently and at other times in a highly collaborative team environment.
