After acing all six tests, Architectural Designer II Logan Matos is now officially a licensed architect.
Some people knock out their licensure early. Others wait. Logan landed somewhere in between with the Architect Registration Examination. His goal was to become licensed before life outside of work got more complicated, and a solid foundation of experience in the architectural field proved helpful when it came to exam time.
For Logan, pursuing licensure as a full-time employee meant prioritizing project deadlines first and scheduling exams around them, even when that stretched out the time between divisions. In between, Logan studied a couple of hours per night during the work week and put in several more hours each weekend.
His advice for the next architect starting the process: log your AXP hours with NCARB as early as possible, and once you start testing, sequence your exams so the overlapping content works in your favor rather than against you.
Becoming an architect is something Logan has wanted for a long time, and the license is what makes the title official.
