DDRB Office Renovation + Expansion

The Developmental Disabilities Resources Board (DDRB) of Clay County is an organization that provides support for adults with developmental disabilities. DDRB’s role expanded in early 2012 due to reorganization at the state level that eliminated state care and pushed support to the county level. As a result, DDRB had to significantly increase its footprint to accommodate up to 30 additional staff members.

DDRB took the opportunity to not only increase its size, but also create a more inviting work environment. Given the significant increase in staff, Generator Studio organized the new layout into three distinct color groups that help with wayfinding in a now-sprawling office. The main conference room is outfitted with adaptable systems furniture allowing multiple uses- from board meetings to classroom configurations. Additional highlights include two new staff break and kitchen areas and varied sized conference rooms spread throughout the office. The colorful interior finishes are accented with warm woods to add a calm, tactile element to the environment.

DDRB needed to continue to use the space throughout construction. That requirement led Generator to work closely with the contractor to develop a phased construction process that ultimately allowed DDRB to stay open throughout the duration of construction.
