On the heels of Generator Studio’s successful integration of the Bud Light Top Shelf Lounge, Generator was hired to design and oversee the new, center hung scoreboard and LED video upgrades for the hockey-centric Xcel Energy Center.
Inspired by the warmth and geometry of northern Minnesota ice fishing huts, the center hung scoreboard highlights aspects of both Minnesota and branding elements from the Wild. The faux wood cladding integrates the scoreboard into the arena’s overarching Scandinavian theme. A ring of pine tree silhouettes around the base provide a subtle nod toward the Wild’s logo. At the time of its unveiling, the new scoreboard boasted the largest LED screens of any scoreboard in an NHL arena in the US.
Other technology upgrades, implemented via an RFP process led by Generator, included: new LED fascias for both suite level and the upper concourse, new LED wraps for the existing camera crow’s nests, new exterior marquees, and various other strategically placed LED boards throughout the arena.
