Going for Gold: CPKC Stadium Achieves LEED Gold Certification

CPKC Stadium becomes the first LEED Gold-certified stadium in Missouri.

CPKC Stadium, home to the Kansas City Current, was awarded LEED Gold certification by the US Green Building Council, marking the first time a professional sports stadium in Missouri has received the distinction. As the venue’s architect, Generator was one of the many local design and build partners that worked with the KC Current ownership to go for gold on LEED certification.

CPKC Stadium achieved LEED Gold certification through several sustainable initiatives, including a 24% reduction in energy costs compared to a baseline building, 14% of the stadium’s energy consumption being generated from on-site solar panels, and the strategic selection of a location with convenient access to public transportation and the Riverfront Heritage Trail, significantly reducing single-occupancy vehicle use.
